Childcare Subsidy
The Child Care Subsidy is the main way the Government assists families with their child care fees. The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) is a single, means-tested subsidy, which is paid directly to child care providers.
Eligibility for Child Care Subsidy
To be eligible, you need to:
- Complete an application for the CCS via Centrelink (for each child)
- Use approved or registered child care
- Be responsible for paying the child care fees for your child
- Ensure your child is immunised, on an immunisation catch up schedule, or is exempt from the immunisation requirements, and
- Meet the residence requirements
Other factors that can affect your Child Care Subsidy include:

- Activity Level of Parents, including one or more parents no longer meeting the Activity Test
- Entering into a salary sacrifice arrangement with your employer in which some or all of your child care fees are paid on your behalf
- Using more than one child care service
